Graphic design jobs can take a variety of forms. This example contract is for a branding package and it clearly reflects my approach to design work.

My system involves extensive research on the topic before any visual elements begin. I am an adept researcher and learning about new subjects is one of the main reasons I enjoy my work. Without deep understanding of your business, a logo design is simple a pretty picture.

My result is a design that fits your values.

Example Contract for Design Service

 

Overview

Designer/Photographer Robert Bruce Anderson (hereafter referred to as Bruce) is providing creative work for the client (as listed above). Bruce will deliver the following at the agreed upon deadline.

  • Three Presentation Meetings

  • Three Prototype Logo Options

  • One Final Logo Package, comprising:

    • Two (2) designs suitable for light or dark backgrounds

    • Two (2) designs suitable for vertical or horizontal applications

    • Three (3) file formats for each layout – png, jpg, & vector

    • Three (3) colour formats for each layout – RGB, CMYK, & Pantone

  • A style guide document will act as a user manual, detailing all safe and legal uses of the digital design product.

  • Final delivery contains thirty-six (36) individual files to account for every possible combination of the above.

  • All files will be labeled and organized into a clear file structure.

Project Estimate

Goals & Scope

  • The project deliverables are limited to the items listed above.

  • The client is free to contact the Bruce with any questions or thoughts at any time, but there will only be three prepared presentations of process work.

  • The logo package will fit a wide variety of uses, but it is possible the client will have new application ideas will arise during the course of the project. Bruce is capable of meeting any branding need, but a change-work fee will be added at a rate of $80/hr. A Change Work contract will be drafted in this situation.

  • This final package is entirely digital in nature. Any print application will be viewed as a separate project with a separate contract

Ownership Rights

  • This contract is for creative design services and does not imply ownership of digital property

  • Bruce reserves all ownership of any work produced for the purpose of this project in perpetuity

  • The client has free use of the product for the purpose of company branding as stipulated

  • The client does not receive the right to alter the product in any way.

    • The product has specific requirements as described in the Style Guide which must be followed

    • Should the client require alterations, Bruce will assist for a fee outlined in a separate contract

  • Bruce reserves all rights to demand a client cease any applications of the product which he considers immoral or otherwise undesirable

Stop Work Order

  • Should an unforeseen circumstance arise that requires the termination of this project, the client agrees to pay one quarter (25%) of the remaining charges.

  • Circumstances may include but are not limited to

    • Loss of funding, Change of management, Change of company direction, or Natural disaster

  • Any and all creative work produced prior to the Stop Work Order remains Bruce's sole property.

  • The client relinquishes all rights to any content and must delete any digital property produced by Bruce for this project.

  • The client also relinquishes all rights to any concepts, outlines, sketches, and any other creative ideas developed for this project.

  • The client may request any content from Bruce after the Stop Work Order and reasonable situations will be considered with an appropriate cost applied.

Payment Schedule

  • Thirty Percent (30%) of the final agreed price will be charged as a down payment before any design work begins. (est. $###.##)

  • Additional charges may apply during the design process.

  • Final remaining costs to be paid within 30 days of project delivery. (mm/dd/yyyy)

  • Past Due payments are subject to a 10% increase to the total cost every week
