My name is Robert Bruce Anderson. People call me Bruce. I am a 40 year old human male currently residing in Kingston, Ontario.
I am an educated student of the arts and have spent most of my life practising two dimensional expression. I have an eye for detail and a knack for organization.
My main profession is photography, but I am also adept at graphic arts, as well as many traditional mediums. I am always on the lookout for something new to delve into.
I have a core belief that all my work should have a definitive non-esoteric function. I aim to create works that have an actual use in the real world. Photographs beautify our surroundings, but they are also touchstones which connect us to the past and help us remember who we are. Art should be welcoming and universal, and not intimidating or confusing.
I am always looking for new projects and events to photographs. To see details about my services, visit my contact page.

Burning Man DocTeam
I was invited to join the volunteer photography team at Burning Man in the summer of 2015. My results can be seen here.

Senior Portrait Photos for Dylan
My friend Dylan is entering his Senior Year of high school. In the States, it is traditional for the graduating class to have professional portraits for their yearbook. Each student will have a full or half page to fill with photos and quotes. I remember my teenage years fondly, and it was fun working with him.
Family Portraits for Iron City Members
Every summer, I offer my camera skills to the friends and family members at the ICFC vacation resort. The weather, lighting, and scenery makes for the perfect opportunity to capture families together having fun.
Layout and Design of 2016 calendar for Iron City Fishing Club
For this project, I have collected and organized a large number of photographs taken by the members of the Iron City Fishing Club vacation resort in Ontario, Canada. I organized sets of two to four pictures in collage arrangement for each month based on their color and composition. In order to adequately fill out the pages, I had to politely request and remind various individuals to submit photos in a timely manner. I used Google Drive to store the pictures and a website called "createphotocalendars.com" to assemble and print the calendars. This website is very simple and basic, but highly effective, and the price is right. Link
Wedding Reception Party for Eugene and Myra
I met Myra in Birmingham and learned that she and her fiance Eugene were planning to elope in the early summer. I offered to document their reception party in a local park. I was excited to work my first wedding, and I felt very satisfied with how they turned out. I made use of a flash and only shot in RAW format to ensure I got good exposures. I enjoy taking candid shots mostly, but I did arrange a few posed pictures as well.
Photo Restoration Project
Tim had a large box of family photos dating back to the 1930s which had fallen into disrepair. He hired me to scan and restore the lot. I used my high-quality flatbed scanner to import around 200 frames of various sizes and quality. I then spent about a week repairing and restoring them. The most common problem was creases and tears, but many also had faded colors. I used Adobe Photoshop exclusively.
90th Birthday Party for Daphne
I met Daphne's daughter through my mother's Church. She organized a family reunion to celebrate her mother's 90th birthday at her retirement home in Birmingham. I photographed the event, and created an album for the family.
Gallery Submissions for Burning Man
On my second trip to Burning Man, I brought my DSLR and upped my photo count by about a thousand frames. The event is fairly challenging to photograph, and I certainly had a tough time dialing in settings. The nights are very dark, but there are thousands of tiny light sources everywhere. The days are very hot and bright, and there is fine dust everywhere. Regardless, I managed to get several great shots, and I submitted about forty of the best to the Burning Man Gallery. Link.
The Black Rock Media Team selected a picture from my collection for use in their 2015 calendar.
Calendar Submissions for ICFC Calendar
While visiting the Iron City Fishing Club resort in Ontario, I took a number of pictures. I selected a dozen of the best pictures, and submitted them to the club for use in their publications. They selected two of my pictures for the 2015 calendar.
Senior Photos for Samantha, July 2014
Sam asked me to take her picture for use in her senior yearbook. I gladly accepted. At the time, I was still using my basic Nikon 18-55 kit lens. The pictures came out great, but it inspired me to invest in an actual portrait lens.
Family Photos for Lisa and Jeff
I photographed Lisa, Jeff, and Owen for their family greeting card. The sunlight was perfect and 2 year old Owen behaved himself. I was very satisfied with the outcome.
Gallery Submissions for Burning Man
On my first trip to Burning Man in 2013, I brought a small Sony camera with me. The successful shots I produced there were influential in my burgeoning photographic career. I submitted several of the best pictures I took to the Burning Man Gallery, and the Media Team selected this picture of a giant vacuum cleaner car to use in their 2014 calendar.
